Locally-based Henri Bendel closing its stores

Columbus-based Henri Bendel closing its stores

Locally-based apparel company L Brands has announced plans to shutter its Henri Bendel line in January. All retail stores - including the one in Easton Town Center - will close, and online sales will cease in early 2019.

“We are committed to improving performance in the business and increasing shareholder value,” said Les Wexner, chairman and CEO of L Brands, in a statement. “As part of that effort, we have decided to stop operating Bendel to improve company profitability and focus on our larger brands that have greater growth potential. This decision is right for the future growth of our company, but not easy because of the impact to our L Brands family.”

Henri Bendel first opened in 1895 in New York City and was aquired by Columbus-based L Brands in 1985.
