Blogger spotlight: Mrs. Ladylike

Columbus fashion blogger Mrs. Ladylike

Local blogger Liz (aka Mrs. Ladylike) moved to Columbus nine years ago and needed a creative outlet. With a background in fashion and a full-time job that had nothing to do with the fashion field, she took matters into her own hands and started blogging. She was kind enough to answer some questions about how to start a blog, finding inspiration and her favorite post. See her answers below:

What made you decide to start blogging?
I started blogging because I needed a creative outlet. I was working a full-time job (not fashion-related), yet I still craved the need to fuel this passion of mine on some level. I do have a very extensive fashion background and even owned a women's clothing boutique right out of college, but when I moved to Columbus nine years ago, it wasn't so easy for me to find a job in fashion. I took matters into my own hands by blogging about fashion and fulfilling that missing piece. I should mention that I had absolutely no idea how to set up a blog! After many long nights of researching and asking fellow blogger friends, I finally had a blog up and running. It was pretty daunting putting myself out there, but I knew that fashion was something that I could speak to confidently. Three years later, I'm incredibly lucky to have some of the most amazing followers of Mrs. Ladylike.

What advice would you give to someone just starting a lifestyle or fashion blog?
Don't worry about not pushing out content every day and focus on creating quality content. It's quality over quantity. Also, understand that it takes time to build a loyal following and stay true to your brand because it's easy to stray off of the original path.

Where do you find inspiration for your posts?
I find inspiration in everything around me especially when I'm traveling. Recent trips to Italy and Spain provided a plethora of inspo! I also read good old fashioned magazines.

Do you have a favorite post, or one you're particularly proud of?
My very first post - posted on February 24, 2014. Why is it my favorite, and why am I proud of it? The style of that first post translates through the years and still looks chic years later!

How would you describe your personal style?
Polished. Classic. Ladylike.

What is the best piece of style advice you've ever received?
Dress for yourself.
